Véronique André and Albert Vollant

Véronique André and Albert Vollant are members of the Innu nation. Mr. Vollant is the only surviving Vollant of his generation, a generation decimated by residential schools and the destruction of his ancestral territory. He is also one of the last hunter-trappers in his community.

During the Discovery Day, Véronique and Albert will give a demonstration of traditional cooking over the fire, as well as a presentation on medicinal plants in the forest.

Krystle Regis

Passionate about boreal cuisine for several years now, Krystle Regis is perfecting her skills in Innu terroir cooking. She's constantly learning how to gather and cook everything that grows. In fact, she took part in the TV show Chefs de bois.

Réginald Michel

For many years, Mr. Michel has been producing and tying his own flies. He is involved in the community as a youth mentor and in all aspects of salmon fishing.

Malie Andrée

Malie André is an Innu woman from the Mani-Utenam community and daughter of the great Mathieu Mishtanapeu André, who discovered and led the development of the Schefferville iron mines. She is also the daughter of Tenina, who ensured that the community's tales and legends were passed on to her, so that they would live on for future generations.

Serge Vollant

Serge Vollant is the son of Bernard Vollant. He learned from his father (Le Boss / Bernard) how to build the canoes and freighter he produces for Mishta Shipu. He took over the company with the apprenticeships he acquired during the family's years of production.

ITUM

Presentation of the history of the Moisie River.

Pêche au Féminin and Shakutaimu

Joannie De Lasablonnière and Audrey Ringuette, two women with a passion for fly fishing, will be leading fly-fishing initiations off the river. You'll be able to learn basic fly-fishing techniques with the loan of equipment provided. A workshop will be offered every hour throughout the day.

KATHLEEN ANDRÉ ET MARTIAL FONTAINE

As Innus from the Maliotenam community, Kathleen practices traditional Innu medicine, while Martial is responsible for gathering remedies. Passing on their knowledge to future generations is one of their core values.

The Norkotières

The Norkotières cooperative brings women together on the North Shore by organizing a variety of outdoor activities in a caring atmosphere, without pressure to perform, with the aim of enabling them to integrate, socialize, develop their confidence and autonomy, as well as discover our territory and its benefits. It is an anchor and reference point for visiting and resident North Shore women seeking socialization, inclusiveness and varied outdoor activities geared to well-being.
